Difficult conversations with your child's teacher
By, Holly Shannon
If you have something difficult to talk to your child’s teacher about, first of all, know the method of communication that your child’s teacher prefers: phone call, e-mail, or a note. I prefer an e-mail. This way I can really look at the conversation that me and the parent have had back and forth, have a couple days to think about what I want to say or gather some information that the parent might need. I think this is the best way that I’ve come up with to talk to parents back and forth about difficult things. You shouldn’t feel uncomfortable. The teacher cares about your child and you care about your child so the sooner you can have that conversation and decide something that needs to happen, the better.
