Who is in Your House?

I ask who is in your house, because I think you may be surprised.  As a teen, many of us remember sneaking out of mom and dad's house with no one ever knowing.  So, why is it a surprise that your teen is doing this same thing?  Or maybe you didn't ever do this and can not believe your teen IS doing anything like this either!  Well, he/she may not be sneaking an actual person into your house and may actually -physically - be present but what if the cell phone is being used at 4am?  Do you know who your teen is speaking to in the middle of the night?

It's been said that nothing good ever happens after 2am, for some this is more like midnight, and the same is true on the cell phone.   If the phone is in use after midnight, it is like being out of the house.  First of all, if there is a party going on and your teen is texting into it ---- well it's just like being there!  And if there is a sleepover, and your teen isn't invited... well again it is as good as being there.

An easy check in for mom is to simply ask your teen in the morning, 'Who were you on the phone with last night?'  Your teen may ask what you are referring to... be smarter than your high school student and just repeat the question.  Most likely your child will be honest when confronted.  If not, it may still be enough to deter future poor behavior.

It is important to know who is influencing your child at ALL hours!
