With Christmas fast approaching I find myself asking my kids' for their "wish list" of gifts. Gone are the days when I could walk into any given toy store and my cart would be overflowing of great items I picked out myself.
Their wish list today consists of skis, snowboard equipment, lacrosse gear, and an itouch.....yes, everything has a $300 price tag. I miss the days of Tickle Me Elmo and Tonka Trucks !
My boys are ages seven and ten and everything I pick out as a "cool toy" gets a response of the inherited eye roll (yes, they got that from me) and the words "are you kidding mom?" I guess my days of being the super cool mom have passed too.
I recently found myself in Toys R Us wandering up and down each aisle praying something would jump out at me as the perfect gift. I left the store empty handed except with the thought that my kids have everything they could possibly need.
Off to buy socks and underwear !
