Well, at 3:10 this afternoon our "official" Christmas break began. What does that mean exactly for a stay at home mom? It means there is NO BREAK ! Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my kids and I LOVE being around them but when you do not work outside the home and the kids are on "break" I am ON 24 hours a day.
So during the next two weeks we will be planning play dates (yes, it is easier to have 8 boys at my house than my 2 alone at times), and activities. We will be found at the bowling alley, the movies, the gym so they can swim or play basketball, and let's be honest my boys will also be found playing outside in the rain and mud. I must find ways to wear them out and exhaust them which in turn exhausts me but we roll with it, we have no choice.
I find it funny, actually scary I have a very selective memory when it comes to recalling being at home with a 2 year old and a newborn full time, honestly how in the world did I get through it? I think God takes your memory so you keep having more and more children because let's face it there is nothing cuter than a 4 month old gazing at their mom as if she was their whole world (because she is). I guess it is just harder now because I can't give my 10 and 7 year old a bunch of Tupperware to keep them entertained, yes those were the days !
So, to all you other stay at home moms stay strong, have a list of activities to do and know you are not alone.
