Teaching your Child to Swim

Swimming is one of the most fundamental and joyful of all activities that your child will learn. It is a “life” skill that provides the basic building blocks for all other types of sports and activities such as flexibility, balance, strength, endurance and safety.

There are swim classes out there for almost any age. Many parents want to begin lessons with their young babies, age 4 to 36 months, so that they increase their water awareness, safety, and survival skills. Doctor’s recommend that children begin lessons by age 4.

It is important to look for low student/teacher ratios so that your child can get individual attention. This will help them learn faster and they will enjoy it a lot more. Your child will also benefit from instructors who are highly trained, motivated, mature and experienced.

Many agree that it’s best to get started in the winter so that your child will be comfortable in the water by those summer hot months.

Start those lessons today and remember..never consider your child “drown-proof” even after those swim lessons.
